Description
Croatian Cultural Society Napredak Sarajevo has more than 20,000 members in 64 affiliates and 3 commissions in BiH, Croatia, Montenegro, Austria, Germany, Canada and the United States.
The Society issues three lists: Croatian Gazette (Tuzla), Napredak (Travnik) and Bobovac (Vareš). In 2003, the library Mijo Poljak was rebuilt in Sarajevo and has about 30,000 books. In 2006, in Garevac (Modriča), Napredak founded the Open House Foundation - Center for Peace and Culture of Dialogue.
There are 10 folklore groups, 7 tamburitza and mandolin orchestras, 11 singing groups / choirs, 2 trio of classical music and 28 different drama, art, music, humanitarian, ecological, student and sports sections.
A total of 47 different sections, groups and sections works within Napredak.
Since its reconstruction (1990), Napredak has realized 9333 different cultural programs.
More than 2850 scholarships and grants were distributed.
Short history
Croatian Cultural Society Napredak was founded in 1902 to assist students and craftsmen, and later to students.
